Training Cats
Training a cat is one of the most difficult tasks you will ever do. Cats are lovely and soft play things, and yet have volatile moods. You might end up feeling absolutely fine, or may end up having a bruised hand!.
Anyways, without training your cats, you still have to do those odd jobs - the cleaning, to apologizing to your neighbors for what your cat did in and around their home!
What you want your cat to do ?
So in order to train a cat, you first need to have an aim like – what specific things that you want your cat to do for itself, and what other things do you want it to do for you. Don’t be surprised by what you read above, because for some people a cat is there just because they love to have a pet at home, and for some people they want to kill the menacing mice in their stores and some people want their cats to perform to earn them money.
Though if you just want to have a pet for the sake of having it, it will anyway do the ‘little killing’. So here are few ways of training your cat:
General Habits:
Don’t allow your cat to learn bad habits. Yes. This is very important because, once a cat finds that peeing on the carpet is an easy exercise, there is chance that it would do that again. This is just an example. Make sure you avoid all the things that might prompt to teach your cat those little naughty behaviors. This is very important.
Aggression:
Training a cat might bring out a cat’s aggression. Don't try to cure your cat’s aggression with your aggression. This spoils the whole environment, and your cat might hardly want to win.
Training a cat involves lot of anticipation! Yep you need to know exactly when your cat is getting irritated with your antics and when it isn’t. This small thing can actually avoid you from falling as a victim to your cats’ aggression.
One of the best ways to reduce the risk of aggression by 90% is to have two cats at your home. Both the cats will make understand that you are not their ‘play things’ and that they have someone else to show their aggression.
Scratching:
Now that’s natural! You will find your sofa sets torn, your door scratched and your furniture looking horrible. Fact is they need something to scratch! So provide them with a pole to scratch. The pole or post or whatever area you give them to scratch should be long enough to cover the length of your cat(s).And whenever you find them scratching a different subject, punish them smartly.
However, when you see them scratching the desired area, praise them.
Litter Box Habits:
Litter box habits is something that will need more of your patience than your time. You will first need to buy a litter box, put it somewhere far in the house, that is not completely reached by your cat. You will first have to show your cat how to do it, because generally cats doing it in private. As long as the litter box is clean, well you will find that that your cat will take care of it pretty well.
These are some simple steps to help training your cat. Of course, making sure that your cat has a personal trainer, is going to be a huge boost.
